I think its time... You are getting older now you have been through a lot. You have grown up, matured and overall you are looking dam fine girl! I think that other sites are looking at you with umm less then noble intentions but its ok! You can handle it, people wont think any different if you let other sites inside you. I am not saying all at once! But I think you can handle 2 or 3 at a time like for instance youtube, maybe even info pages/ blogs. Its ok they will be gentle, I know you are scared your first time always is but you wont loose any of your friends I promise.
People need to communicate outside of this site they need larger pages to explain gigs, they need to not fear when they say things like "Pay", they need to show more samples, they need to feel safe and free. They need larger videos, they need to send larger files, they need basics that for some reason you fail to provide so why not let them? I mean please tell me one site that has been hurt by being an open platform??..... oh that's right you cant :)
